Testing the GUI and Server

This page is layed out to help users test the graphic user interface (GUI) of Tranche to ensure that everything is working properly. These are the same steps taken by the Tranche team every week to confirm that everthing is in working order. If you have any additional questions please email us.

  1. Start a server. For information on starting a server, see Administrating a Server.
  2. Open the Tranche GUI

  3. Create/Use a junk file. 1 file of about 20 MB in size, and also create a directory of 3-12 files which will total to about 20 MB
  4. Upload the file(s) to Tranche. For more complete information on how to upload a file please click here.

  5. If you need to encrypt your files, or wish to select a specific server to upload the data to, you can do this by clicking on the "Options" tab in the menu bar. For more information, including graphics, on this advanced feature please click here.

  6. Once the upload is complete save the hash. Use both the save and email tools to ensure they are working correctly.

  7. Take the hash and download the files to the same location from which they were uploaded to verify they are complete.

Repeat the above process with encryption enabled to verify it is in working order.

Once both tasks have been completed the uploaded junk files can be purged from the system.
